Heroes, trophies, buildings and research FAQ
Quick answer: short answers to common questions about heroes, trophies, gear, buildings and research; each links to the full page.
Getting heroes
Section titled “Getting heroes”How do I get a hero?
Section titled “How do I get a hero?”You summon it. Open the hero’s card in your roster and tap Summon. The summon screen says “Uses 10 {hero} Medals” and shows how many you have. Every summon costs 10 medals, including the first one. You cannot summon a hero you already have.
Medals only work for the hero type they belong to, and the game says “Hero Medals come from Hero Medal packs in the Store.” The Starter Hero chest gives 5 medals for each of the two Classic heroes, which is not enough for a summon on its own. You can also buy a Genesis hero on OpenSea and deposit it. See Store and packs and Upgrading heroes.
Can I use a Hero NFT I bought on OpenSea?
Section titled “Can I use a Hero NFT I bought on OpenSea?”Yes, if it is a Genesis hero from the official XLords collection. Open Wallet and tap Receive Hero to get your deposit address, then send the hero there on Robinhood Chain. The hero joins your roster by itself. Steps and what to check are in Genesis hero NFTs.
What is the difference between Classic heroes, Genesis heroes and Hero NFTs?
Section titled “What is the difference between Classic heroes, Genesis heroes and Hero NFTs?”Classic heroes are the ones you summon in game with medals. They stay in your account. Genesis heroes are the NFTs of the XLords collection on Robinhood Chain. You can deposit them, send them back to your wallet, burn them for medals or merge them into a grade-up. Burn, merge, deposit and sending out do not work on Classic heroes. “Hero NFT” means a Genesis hero. See Upgrading heroes and Genesis hero NFTs.
Why did my hero upgrade take medals but nothing changed?
Section titled “Why did my hero upgrade take medals but nothing changed?”A grade upgrade takes the medals when it starts and finishes when the timer ends. Open the hero and look for the timer or Upgrading. Do not tap Upgrade again.
If the network step of the upgrade fails, the game puts the medals back by itself. If the medals are gone and there is no timer and no new grade after a few minutes, close and reopen the game, then open a ticket with the hero name and the time. See Upgrading heroes.
How do Hero EXP and levels work?
Section titled “How do Hero EXP and levels work?”Hero EXP comes from EXP items in your Bag: Honey Baked Ham gives 60, Lamb Chops 300 and Roast Turkey 1,500. Use them on one hero. Each level needs more EXP than the last, and level 60 is the maximum. The table of totals is in Upgrading heroes.
What is the point of upgrading a Genesis hero?
Section titled “What is the point of upgrading a Genesis hero?”Grade makes the hero’s Battle Skills stronger and raises the troops it leads (1,000 at Common up to 5,000 at Legendary and above, at level 1), its damage and its HP. Level adds more on top, and rank unlocks more skills. A grade upgrade costs medals, which you get from burning or merging spare heroes. This is about strength in battle only: the game does not set what a hero is worth. See Heroes in battle.
How many heroes are there, and what are the classes?
Section titled “How many heroes are there, and what are the classes?”Genesis heroes come in 12 types: Guardian, Berserker, Paladin, Storm Knight, Ranger, Assassin, Duelist, Beast Hunter, Mage, Priest, Necromancer and Stormcaller. Classic heroes are the ones you summon with medals, such as Lord Richard and Seraphina. Every hero belongs to one of three classes: Strength, Agility or Intelligence. See Genesis hero NFTs.
Can I send my Hero NFT to my own wallet?
Section titled “Can I send my Hero NFT to my own wallet?”Yes, for Genesis heroes, when the game offers it. Open Send Hero, pick the hero, paste your own wallet address and confirm. The game checks each hero. If there is no option, or you see “Hero withdrawals are paused right now. Try again later.”, sending is closed for that hero for now. Classic heroes cannot be sent out. Steps: Send a hero to your wallet.
Why can’t I send my Hero NFT to my wallet?
Section titled “Why can’t I send my Hero NFT to my wallet?”The hero must show Ready. A hero guarding the Wall, marching, sheltered, wounded, captured, listed or upgrading is busy, and the game says “Recall this hero from duty to withdraw it.” Your leader always stands on the Wall, so make another hero your leader first, then try again. See Change your leader. If it still fails, send support the hero number, the time and a screenshot.
Can I send a hero to another player?
Section titled “Can I send a hero to another player?”There is no gift button. To pass on a Genesis hero, send it to your own wallet with Send Hero, then transfer it from that wallet, for example by selling it on OpenSea. The new owner sends it to their own Deposit address in the game. A transfer cannot be reversed, so check every address twice. Classic heroes cannot be sent to another player. See Genesis hero NFTs.
Why does a hero I sent out still show in the game, or not on OpenSea?
Section titled “Why does a hero I sent out still show in the game, or not on OpenSea?”The transfer takes a few minutes (“Sending… This can take a few minutes.”). Reload the game, then open Wallet, the wallet history and Heroes: Processing, Withdrawn or Failed. A failed transfer puts the hero back in your roster. Level and experience are kept by the game, not on the NFT, so OpenSea does not show them. If a transfer stays on Processing, do not send again. Contact support with the hero number and the time.
Why isn’t my hero’s Research Speed skill working?
Section titled “Why isn’t my hero’s Research Speed skill working?”Check three things:
- The skill must be unlocked (a locked skill shows “Unlocks at rank N”).
- The hero must still be yours: a hero you sent out or burned stops counting.
- The bonus only applies to a research you start after you have it; a research already running keeps its time.
The skills of all your heroes add up, deployed or not. If a new research still shows no bonus, send support the hero, the skill and the research name. See Economy skills.
Trophies and gear
Section titled “Trophies and gear”Is there a level requirement for gear?
Section titled “Is there a level requirement for gear?”Workshop gear shows a Required level. If your Lord level is lower, equipping fails with “Insufficient level to equip gear”. A saved equipment set says “You need to be level N to apply this equipment set.” Trophies show “Requires hero Lv N” on their card in the Hero Chest; the levels per tier are in Trophies. Lord level is explained in Lord level, EXP, Power and rankings.
Why doesn’t Quick Swap work?
Section titled “Why doesn’t Quick Swap work?”Quick Swap (the Workshop equipment sets, which some players call Quick Switch) refuses to apply a set in these cases:
- The set was never saved.
- A piece needs a higher player level (“You need to be level N to apply this equipment set.”).
- A piece sits in a slot your Workshop level has not unlocked (“Workshop level too low to use this slot”).
- Another gear change is still running.
Save the set first, then tap Apply. The full list is in Quick Swap. If none fits, send support the set number, the message and a screenshot.
Where do I get crafting materials?
Section titled “Where do I get crafting materials?”Trophy shards and blueprints drop at random when you gather resources (with a daily limit), and they come in shard and blueprint chests. Some Store bundle packs include these chests. Workshop gear materials drop when you gather too. In the Locker, 5 materials of one grade merge into 1 of the next. See Trophies, Gathering and Gear and trophy bonuses.
Is there a daily limit on shards and blueprints from gathering?
Section titled “Is there a daily limit on shards and blueprints from gathering?”Yes. Gathering gives at most 3 shards and 2 blueprints per day, and 15 gear materials per day. The day resets at 00:00 UTC. This limit is for gathering drops. It is a game setting, so these are today’s values and they can change. See Gathering.
What is in the Premium Crafting Chest?
Section titled “What is in the Premium Crafting Chest?”Only trophy crafting parts. One chest gives 4 random rewards, and each reward is either 5 shards or 1 blueprint, for any slot and class. Blueprints are rarer than shards. The Blueprint Chest gives 2 blueprints and no shards. No Gems, USDT or resources come from these chests.
Can I be given an Armory Chest or another chest?
Section titled “Can I be given an Armory Chest or another chest?”No. Chests are not granted to individual players on request. The shard and blueprint chests that exist come from the places listed in Trophies.
Do gear bonuses depend on the hero, troop type or rank?
Section titled “Do gear bonuses depend on the hero, troop type or rank?”Not on the hero’s rank, and not on which hero it is. Workshop gear works through your leader hero. City bonuses (like construction or research speed) count while your leader is not captured or dead. Battle, march and gathering bonuses also need your leader in that army. A troop-type bonus (Infantry, Cavalry, Ranged, Siege) only boosts that troop type. Trophies are a separate system: they add to the hero’s own stats. The full table is in Gear and trophy bonuses.
Why can’t I equip a trophy? It says my hero’s rank does not match.
Section titled “Why can’t I equip a trophy? It says my hero’s rank does not match.”A hero at Rank N can only wear tier N trophies, and the trophy must match the hero’s class. The message reads “Only Hero rank N can equip this - your Hero is rank M”. Check the tier on the trophy and the rank on the hero.
Other equip errors (slot taken, hero away, wounded or captured, “Hero equip transaction failed!”) are listed in If equipping fails. If everything matches and the game still refuses, send support the trophy name, the hero name, and a screenshot.
Why does it say a slot is already equipped?
Section titled “Why does it say a slot is already equipped?”Each slot holds one trophy, and “Trophy already equipped in this slot” means the game reads that slot as taken. Equipped trophies cannot be taken off. A trophy that fails to equip stays in your Hero Chest. If the slot looks empty on your screen, close and reopen the game and check the Hero Chest again. If it still shows wrong, open a ticket with a screenshot of the hero and the Hero Chest.
Why did my trophy disappear from my hero?
Section titled “Why did my trophy disappear from my hero?”Check the Hero Chest > Equipment tab first: a trophy shows as OWNED, or WORN while a hero wears it. If the hero just got Up Rank, that is the reason: when the rank-up goes through, the six worn trophies are used up. The hero keeps their boosts, and you need a set of the next tier for the next Rank. See Gear and trophy bonuses.
Do trophies change the value of my hero NFT?
Section titled “Do trophies change the value of my hero NFT?”Trophies add to the hero’s stats and stay with the hero. Worn trophies cannot be removed, and burning a hero returns them as new trophies (see Upgrading heroes). The game does not set a price for heroes, and the NFT marketplace is switched off in the production game.
Is forging available?
Section titled “Is forging available?”Yes. The Workshop forges castle equipment. Open Forging Requirements to see what you need. It depends on your materials and resources, and for the newest gear on your Workshop and player level. It does not depend on your hero’s Rank. Hero trophies are not forged there; you craft them in the Hero Chest. See Gear and trophy bonuses.
Why does forging say “Insufficient resources”?
Section titled “Why does forging say “Insufficient resources”?”You are short on one line of Forging Requirements. Compare each line with your stock of that exact material or resource. The game checks everything first and takes nothing when you are short. If every line is enough, close and reopen the game and try again. See Gear and trophy bonuses.
Why is my gear upgrade stuck?
Section titled “Why is my gear upgrade stuck?”An upgrade runs on a timer, so check the time left in the Workshop. You cannot start another forge or upgrade while one is running. If an upgrade fails after you paid, the game returns the materials and resources. If the timer ended long ago and the piece still says Upgrading, open a ticket with a screenshot. See Gear and trophy bonuses.
Why do I only get green gear?
Section titled “Why do I only get green gear?”Green is Common, the grade every new forge starts at. Higher grades come from upgrading a piece. See Gear and trophy bonuses.
Why does a Reduction stat show a plus?
Section titled “Why does a Reduction stat show a plus?”The + is the size of your bonus, not a penalty. For Forge Speed, Construction Speed and Research Speed the time is divided by (1 + bonus), so +100% halves it. See Gear and trophy bonuses.
How do I trade or deposit gear?
Section titled “How do I trade or deposit gear?”You cannot. The game only lets you deposit and send out heroes (Receive Hero and Send Hero). It has no deposit or send option for gear or trophies. The NFT marketplace is switched off in the production game. See Genesis hero NFTs.
Buildings
Section titled “Buildings”How do I build, upgrade or repair the Wall?
Section titled “How do I build, upgrade or repair the Wall?”You do not build the Wall. It is in your city from the start. Tap it and use Upgrade. From level 3 the Wall cannot be higher than your Castle, and from level 6 the Workshop must be one level below the Wall’s new level. The Wall repairs itself and refills fully in about 24 hours. For what it gives per level, see Buildings reference.
Why is my Wall weak, and will I be compensated?
Section titled “Why is my Wall weak, and will I be compensated?”Attacks lower your Wall HP, and a damaged Wall defends worse. Tap Repair Wall on the Castle screen, or wait: the Wall also refills by itself (see the Wall answer above). The battle report lists the Wall HP and the damage it took.
Losses from ordinary battles are not compensated. If you think a game fault left your Wall at the wrong HP, open a ticket with the battle report and a screenshot of the Castle screen. Support checks your account first and cannot promise a result. See Battle reports and Castle and buildings.
Where is the Bunker and how do I unlock it?
Section titled “Where is the Bunker and how do I unlock it?”The Bunker unlocks at Castle level 17 and has its own place in your city. From level 3, upgrading to level N needs your Castle at N, your Vault at N-1 and your Wall at N-3. From level 23 it also needs the Ethereon Tower at N-3 (level 20 for Bunker level 23, level 21 for level 24, and so on). See Buildings reference.
Can Embassy capacity be balanced against Battle Hall rally capacity?
Section titled “Can Embassy capacity be balanced against Battle Hall rally capacity?”They are two separate numbers. The Embassy limits how many allied troops can reinforce you. The Battle Hall limits the size of a rally (Max Coalition Army Size). You upgrade each on its own. The numbers per level are in Buildings reference. I cannot say if they will change.
What does the Embassy do?
Section titled “What does the Embassy do?”The Embassy holds allied reinforcements and sets Max Help, how many guildmates can help one of your upgrades or researches. You unlock it at Castle level 10 and can own one. You cannot demolish it. The Garrison Tent needs it. The numbers per level are in Buildings reference.
Which buildings do I need for each Castle level, and what do I upgrade first?
Section titled “Which buildings do I need for each Castle level, and what do I upgrade first?”Open the Castle’s Upgrade window and read Requirements. Each row shows a building and Reach Level N, and Not Met marks what you must upgrade first. Upgrade whatever is marked Not Met, then the Castle.
For Castle level N you need:
- The Wall at level N-1.
- A second building at about N-1. The window names it, and it changes from level to level.
- From Castle level 16, the Battle Hall at N-1.
- From Castle level 21, the Ethereon Tower at N-1.
See Castle and buildings and Buildings reference.
Where do I build traps and what unlocks them?
Section titled “Where do I build traps and what unlocks them?”You cannot build them yet. Wall traps are switched off in the production game, so there is no trap menu to unlock. See Buildings reference.
Why is there no Laboratory in my city?
Section titled “Why is there no Laboratory in my city?”The game has no building called Laboratory. The one that looks like it, the Transmutation Lab, is switched off in the production game, so you cannot build or use it. See Buildings reference.
Why does my building show Help instead of Speed Up?
Section titled “Why does my building show Help instead of Speed Up?”If you are in a guild, a running upgrade shows Help first. Tap it once to ask your guildmates. After that the button changes to Speed Up. If you are not in a guild, you see Speed Up right away. When 3 minutes or less remain you can tap Free. If you tapped Help and it still shows Help, reload the game; if it stays, contact support. See Guild basics and Castle and buildings.
Why doesn’t my construction time change with build-speed gear?
Section titled “Why doesn’t my construction time change with build-speed gear?”The game works out the time when you start the upgrade. Gear you change afterwards does not shorten an upgrade that is already running. Equip the gear first, then start the upgrade. Gear bonuses also need your leader hero to be free; see Gear and trophy bonuses.
Can I get speed-ups back for lost construction time?
Section titled “Can I get speed-ups back for lost construction time?”Speed-up items are used up when you confirm. A speed-up longer than the time left finishes the building and the whole item is used. If you think a timer was lost through a game fault, open a ticket with the building name, the time and the item name. Support checks your account first and cannot promise items or a result. See Castle and buildings.
What do I get from the land plot?
Section titled “What do I get from the land plot?”The Open new land offer lifts the fog from one shelf of your city: “Every plot under it opens for building, and stays yours.” The eastern shelf has 10 plots for Barracks, Infirmaries and Manors. The land comes empty: no buildings or items are included, and you can build up to 5 Manors on military plots.
The price is shown on the offer. The game takes it from your Funding first, then from your available rewards when the offer is in USDT. See Manor.
Research
Section titled “Research”Why did my research time increase?
Section titled “Why did my research time increase?”The time is fixed when you start a research. It is the node’s normal time, shortened by your Research Speed bonus at that moment. A research that is already running does not change. The Academy shows the time with your bonus already applied before you tap start.
The bonus adds up:
- Your Academy level (each level cuts the time).
- The research-speed skill of your heroes.
- A kingdom title such as Prime Scholar (the Dullard title makes it longer).
- Forged gear.
If a bonus you had was off when you started, the time is longer. Gear bonuses are off while your leader is captured or dead. See Academy and research and Gear and trophy bonuses.
Can I get more research queues or faster research?
Section titled “Can I get more research queues or faster research?”You can research one thing at a time. More slots come from forged gear with the Research Capacity bonus. To research faster, upgrade the Academy, use research or general speed-up items on a running research, and use the bonuses above. I cannot say if more speed-ups or queues will be added. See Academy and research and Gear and trophy bonuses.
Which research should I upgrade first?
Section titled “Which research should I upgrade first?”There is no fixed order; it depends on what you want to build. Open the node and read its requirements first: each one shows the Academy level and the earlier research you need. You research one thing at a time, so check the time before you start.
The trees help with different goals:
- Economy: production and building speed.
- Military: training speed, troop stats and Tier 2 unlocks.
- Army Leadership: army size, formations and troop presets.
- Upgrade Military: cheaper training and healing.
See Academy and research.
Battles
Section titled “Battles”Why did my kill count go up by less than the troops I killed?
Section titled “Why did my kill count go up by less than the troops I killed?”Troops Killed counts only enemy troops that died. Wounded troops are not counted. See Lord level, EXP, Power and rankings and Troops, training and healing.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”If a hero, trophy, building or research is stuck or looks wrong after you reopened the game, open a ticket from Setting > More > Support. Send the item name, what the screen said, when it happened, and a screenshot. See Contact support. Support cannot promise a result before checking your account.
